Evander Holyfield discussed the much-debated count during Buster Douglas' fight against Mike Tyson. Tyson has alleged a slow count allowed Douglas longer to recover. However, both Douglas and Holyfield have refuted this claim. Examining the fight, they agreed that Douglas was ready to continue after the knockdown and successfully retaliated shortly afterwards. They also noted Tyson’s surprise at the strength of Douglas’s response. Even after years, Tyson insists Buster had an extra few seconds on the mat, something Holyfield attributes to the true shock of that night, described as "the biggest upset in sports history."
