Lisane Basquiat and Jeanine Heriveaux opened up about managing brother Jean-Michel Basquiat's estate since their father's death. In the midst of successful corporate careers, they inherited a multi-billion dollar legacy made up of their brother's art. They emphasized that their role is to make decisions about the estate that honor and protect Jean-Michel's artistic legacy, although the move also involves handling significant wealth. In one notable 2017 sale, a Basquiat work sold for $110.5 million. They also approved a Beyonce and Jay-Z Tiffany campaign, which featured a Basquiat painting in the background. Most recently, they have organized the "King Pleasure" exhibit, featuring pieces all from the estate, except for one on loan from their stepmother.
Jean-Michel Basquiat: King Pleasure © is on view until January 1, 2024 in Los Angeles.
Don't miss a once in a lifetime opportunity to see these works.
