--------

Hector Berrellez dived into the problems surrounding smuggling via the U.S.-Mexico border. With an annual economy exceeding $20 billion, cartels profit an estimated $2.6 billion from the migration turmoil. Costs per migrant vary, with Mexican citizens paying nearly $8,600 and those from Central American countries like El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala dishing out roughly $11,500 to cross the border. The large-scale financial gain from these operations poses a serious problem and hinders politicians' campaign promises for a resolution.
