Super Bowl champion and former writer for the hit TV show "Ballers," Rashard Mendenhall, sat down for an interview on VladTV. He credited his success on and off the court to his mother's emphasis on being well-rounded and not singularly focused on sports. He shared his upbringing in the culturally diverse area of Skokie, Illinois, and the South Side of Chicago, where he was primarily engaged in church activities. The athlete also recalled his early inclination towards sports, relayed through a story by his kindergarten teacher. His formal introduction to football began, and his talent emerged, at the age of 10 with the Pop Warner Little League. Mendenhall also got into details about his high school football career, during which he was the leading recruit in Illinois. To hear more, check out the clip above.
