Rashard Mendenhall reflected on his career choices, stating he is proud of his younger self for having the courage to assert his worth to his team, even if it meant refusing to play. Mendenhall held a firm stance on his value as a professional in the billion-dollar industry and would make the same choices if he had to do it again. Discussing the torn ACL he endured at the end of the 2011 season, Mendenhall explained how treatment and training improvements changed this kind of injury from being career-ending. Although Mendenhall's contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers could have been renewed, they decided to separate, and Mendenhall signed with the Arizona Cardinals as a free agent instead. Mendenhall also discussed his financial success, pointing out that he played his five-year contract for every cent of the $12.5 million he was guaranteed.
