Kevin Bludso, founder of the world-famous Bludso's BBQ restaurant, opened up about his upbringing and journey to success. Born and raised in Compton, California, to a police officer father and a mother who was a Black Panther sympathizer, Bludso said he gained a different perspective on life spending summers in Texas. At nine, he began working at his grandmother's illegal barbecue spot in Texas, which inspired his career path. He attended college, worked as a DJ, and catered on the side before landing a job with the Department of Corrections. However, after being let go, he returned to what he knew best - food. After opening his own catering company, he leveraged this experience (and recipes he learned as a child) to set up his now-famous restaurant in 2008, hoping to create a legal and successful business.
