--------
Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas offered his theory that NBA players from the 80s and 90s were potentially using steroids. Arenas highlighted that the testing protocols were far more relaxed back then, with only one annual test on October 1st, thus providing a wide window for potential steroid use. He suggested that due to these players going bald by the age of 25 and not having many recorded injuries despite playing all 82 games with minimal medical staff, steroid use could have been widespread. He mentioned that despite the widespread steroids crisis in many sports during the 80s and 90s, the NBA somehow seemed unaffected. He emphasized that the modern NBA has much stricter testing, implying the players from his era are cleaner. Finally, he made it clear that current claims of LeBron James using steroids are baseless, as the FBI has cleared LeBron of this allegation.
