Former Hells Angels leader Charles "PeeWee" Goldsmith opened up about his troubled childhood. Raised by his mother and three sisters, Goldsmith’s biological father was largely absent due to a prison sentence following a bar-related incident. His sporadic meetings with his dad were overshadowed by a traumatic experience with his stepfather. Goldsmith recounted a particularly harrowing event from fourth grade when his stepdad punched him in the face, breaking his nose and knocking him out over a minor act of defiance. Despite enduring regular beatings with belts and pieces of wood, his mother's role was complicated by her third-shift job and the societal norms of their time, which downplayed child abuse. Continuing the interview, Goldsmith explained his tumultuous education journey, from expulsion from Catholic school for fighting to attending a military academy. He ultimately returned to public high school, where he again faced challenges.
