Lil Durk, leader of the Chicago-based rap collective Only the Family (OTF), is embroiled in a federal murder-for-hire case. The FBI accuses OTF of being an association engaged in violence under Durk's direction. The controversy stems from the 2020 shooting of King Von, an OTF associate, by Quando Rondo’s friend, Lul Tim, in Atlanta, Georgia. In the aftermath, social media users urged Lil Durk to avenge Von’s death. Federal documents claim a witness informed investigators that Durk placed a bounty on Rondo’s life, instructing OTF members to act.
In August 2022, OTF members traveled from Chicago to Los Angeles, allegedly plotting against Rondo. They followed him for hours before opening fire, killing his cousin, Lul Pab, instead. Nearly two years later, charges of murder-for-hire and conspiracy were filed against Lil Durk and his associates. Lil Durk was arrested attempting to flee the country and faces life imprisonment or the death penalty if convicted. All involved remain detained without bond, pending trial.
