Growing up in the Mechanicsville neighborhood of Atlanta, Lil Woody faced numerous challenges from a young age. He was one of ten siblings in a household that struggled financially following the death of his father to cancer when Woody was ten. A significant head injury during childhood led to speech and hearing impairments, complicating his formative years further. Despite these setbacks, Woody's life took a darker turn after the passing of his mother from cancer when he was 17. Her death marked a pivotal moment, leading to increased involvement in neighborhood conflicts and school troubles. However, Woody attributes his resilience and survival to his mother's strong influence, mentioning how she was the only person he truly listened to.
