Comedian Aries Spears criticized fellow comedian Katt Williams for sowing division within the Black comedy community. Spears reacted to Williams' claims of attempting to create a safe space for Black entertainers, where political hurdles and casting couches were irrelevant. Instead of uniting Black entertainers, Williams allegedly alienated them, causing fans to take sides, Spears argued. He cited an incident where Williams mocked Cedric the Entertainer by calling him a walrus, questioning how such actions constitute "good Black business." He suggested that Williams missed an opportunity to uplift rather than criticize his peers. Spears further claimed that much of Williams' controversial comments were fabricated, only serving to generate buzz.
