He spoke candidly about the violent tasks he undertook, which included shooting a bouncer in the leg. By the early 1990s, Gioia had become a trusted associate, breaking arms and legs and participating in hits for the family. These deeds solidified his reputation, ultimately leading to his induction as a made man in 1991.
