Former Army sniper Nicholas Irving opened up about being labeled an “affirmative action sniper." Irving, the first Black sniper in his battalion to serve overseas, emphasized that he earned his position through hard work and determination, not quotas. He acknowledged the existence of affirmative action but argued that it affects various groups differently. Irving also weighed in on sensitive topics sparked by polarizing statements made by Charlie Kirk, including comparisons of transgender identity to blackface and controversial remarks about prominent Black women leaders. While Irving doesn’t fully understand the transgender community and refrains from harsh judgments, he strongly disagrees with demeaning comments toward women and minorities. Calling for respect and compassion, he stressed that airing provocative opinions may be designed to elicit reactions rather than reflect genuine beliefs.
