Former DEA agent Hector Berrellez discussed how President Donald Trump brought to light China’s covert involvement in the fentanyl epidemic. Berrellez stated that China has been supplying raw materials to Mexican cartels, fueling a deadly secret war against the U.S. Trump’s tough stance, including tariffs on China, strained diplomatic ties, but highlighted the severity of the issue harming American lives. Berrellez also reflected on U.S.-China relations, emphasizing the risk of conflict given China’s military strength but trusting mutual nuclear deterrence would prevent war.
