Gina Conway opened up about serving a 15-year sentence—subject to the No Early Release Act—in connection to the Max B murder case following her plea deal. Transferred from county jail to Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for women in Clinton, New Jersey, Conway described her arrival at the state penitentiary as terrifying and overwhelming. She encountered a harsh environment with many “hardcore criminals,” frequent fights, and a generally dangerous atmosphere. Conway revealed that Edna Mahan was once considered one of the most dangerous female prisons, plagued by allegations of sexual abuse by male guards, which ultimately led to the facility’s planned closure. While Conway did not experience sexual abuse firsthand, she witnessed violence among inmates and recounted a severe fight that left her injured. Reflecting on her sentence in her late 20s, Conway expressed how daunting the prospect of spending years behind bars felt, impacting how she viewed her future.
