Wayno, who grew up between the Bronx and Harlem, shares a candid look at his turbulent childhood shaped by family and environment. Born in the Bronx, he enjoyed a relatively stable early life with his mom and grandmother. However, a move to Harlem at age 12 exposed him to harsher realities, including witnessing violent street incidents that left a lasting impact.

Central to Wayno’s story is his relationship with his father, a man who fathered eight children by eight different women. Despite having a close bond with his dad, Wayno admits the fragmented family dynamic affected him profoundly. Many of his siblings never knew their father well or each other, reflecting the challenges of growing up with an absent parent involved heavily in street life.

Wayno dropped out of school at 16, struggling with the distractions and difficulties of his environment. Yet, through honest reflection and perseverance, he sheds light on the complexities of navigating family, loss, and survival in inner-city life.
