--------

Former Army sniper Nicholas Irving weighed in on the controversial killing of Alex Pretti by ICE agents in Minneapolis. Pretti was shot despite not brandishing or reaching for his weapon at the time of the shooting. Irving emphasized that laws of engagement must be followed, especially by law enforcement, and that simply being armed does not justify lethal force. He criticized ICE for what he called a “bad shot” and noted that officers had reportedly already secured Pretti’s weapon before opening fire. Irving also referenced footage from days before the incident showing Pretti protesting and damaging an ICE vehicle, but argued that such actions do not warrant deadly force. Both Irving and interviewer Shawn Prez condemned the quick framing of the incident by officials as justified, calling it a troubling sign of systemic failure in policing and use of force protocols.
