In a candid interview, former Army Ranger Nicholas Irving expressed his refusal to alter his language to accommodate transgender terminology. Irving emphasized his belief that while individuals can live their lives as they choose, he should not be compelled to change how he speaks or acknowledges others’ identities. “If I wake up tomorrow and want to be emperor of the world, does that mean everyone has to call me that? No,” he stated, underscoring his viewpoint that personal feelings do not mandate universal respect or language changes.
He also questioned the impact of accommodating a small demographic—estimating transgender individuals as less than 2% of the population—and maintained that his traditional views shaped in the 1980s remain valid.
