In a candid VladTV interview, Jap5 shared the story behind his unique name and his upbringing rooted in the infamous 107 Hoover Criminals gang of South Central Los Angeles. The name "Jap5" is a generational title passed down within his family—his father being "Jab3," his cousin "Jab4," making him "Jab5." This legacy reflects their deep family ties within the gang.
Jap5 revealed he was literally born into the 107 Hoover Criminals, a gang that emerged in the late 1960s and allied with the Crip movement in the early 1970s. While Jap5 admits he didn’t grasp the gravity of his environment as a child, growing up surrounded by normalized violence, his awareness deepened only after time spent in juvenile hall. Despite the challenges of having his father frequently incarcerated from a young age, Jap5 embraced his lineage, earning the nickname "little Jap" and eventually becoming fully immersed in gang life.
