He recalled being thrown into this dangerous world at just 17, in New York’s adolescent facility before being transferred to adult prison.

Maino explained how valuables like jewelry and phones were prized possessions behind bars, sparking deadly disputes. "Kids were getting hurt or worse over phones and jewelry," he said, emphasizing the constant threat of violence and the need to assert oneself.
