Coffee and tea lovers, this is your reminder that stain prevention does not mean giving up what you love.

The biggest thing I want you thinking about is contact time.

When dark drinks sit on the teeth for long periods, the pigments and tannins have more time to bind to enamel, especially if the enamel is already weakened, dry, or more porous. This is why sipping the same coffee for two hours can create more staining than drinking it within a shorter window.

A few simple habits can help:

✅ Drink your coffee or tea within a more defined window instead of sipping all morning.

✅ Swish with plain water after drinking to help clear tannins from the tooth surface.

✅ Use xylitol gum or mints afterward to stimulate saliva, which naturally helps rinse and buffer the mouth.

✅ Wait at least 20–30 minutes before brushing so you are not brushing on enamel that may be temporarily softened.

✅ Use a hydroxyapatite toothpaste consistently to support enamel strength and brightness over time.

You do not need to be perfect. You just need to reduce how long staining compounds sit on the teeth and support your enamel daily.
