1:46Now PlayingA dental visit can reveal much more than whether your child has cavities.
Save these five questions for their next appointment:
✅ Is my child breathing through their nose or mouth?
✅ How do their tongue posture, lip seal, and jaw development look?
✅ Are these cavities mainly related to brushing and flossing, or could something else be contributing?
✅ Do you see signs of clenching or grinding?
✅ Should we take a closer look at their airway and overall health?
Breathing patterns, saliva, nutrition, eating frequency, tongue posture, and airway stress can all affect what is happening inside your child’s mouth.
Mouth breathing may influence sleep, mood, behaviour, jaw development, gum health, and cavity risk. Grinding can also be a clue that your child’s body is working harder to breathe during sleep.
The mouth offers valuable information about how a child is growing and functioning. Asking deeper questions can help identify patterns earlier and give your child the support they need to thrive.
