Matt Duss, executive vice president at the Center for International Policy and former foreign policy advisor to senator Bernie Sanders, notes that in the US, hostility against China is on the rise—as well as the belief that China is angling to rewrite the rules of global order. Dr. Henry Wang, founder and president of the Center for China and Globalization, counters that China isn’t seeking to overtake the US, but is instead aiming for peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and increased collaboration. Both agree on the need for increased dialogue between the two countries to address shared challenges and create a global order that represents not only their own interests, but the world’s.
