Research suggests that single women without children are often happier and healthier than men and married women with children, but is it true? No one wants to admit to getting it wrong. How do #modernwomen feel about being #childless or being #singlemoms? @CourtneyRyan talks to single women about this and Donovan breaks it down with his reaction on episode 910 of TSR Live Podcast.

The marriage patterns have changed many times in U.S. history. But today, singleness has gone far beyond any historic norm. Almost a third of women have never married by age 35, and about 15% have never married by age 50. These numbers are likely to continue rising. It’s perfectly plausible that the share of women who’ve never had a legally-committed partner could reach 20% among the cohort of women born in the late-1980s.

New data from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis showed that single women without kids pocketed $65,000 more in wealth in 2019 than single, child-free men, who has an of $57,000. Single mothers, on the other hand, had only $7,000.

It takes about $286,000/year to raise two children in the US according to the USDA as reported by Bankrate.

Women tend to have stronger social networks outside of their romantic relationships.

Single women may be more selective than single men when choosing a partner, as they may enjoy the freedom provided by their lifestyle.

At any one time, about two thirds of single mothers are working outside the home, a slightly greater share than the share of married mothers who are also working outside the home.

Childless by choice or single mother by choice, depression and loneliness often follows.
