Cessationists believe that God still does miracles and that the Holy Spirit is actively operating today in Christians’ lives, but that the apostolic gifts were only for building the foundation of the early church. In fact, there’s no mention of apostolic gifts after 1 Corinthians, which was one of Paul’s early letters. Continuationists believe there are modern apostles who can prophecy God’s messages beyond the Bible, as well as impart spiritual gifts to others. What does the Bible say about prophecy, tongues, and other apostolic gifts for today?

In this interview, David Lovi who wrote and narrated the new movie, Cessationist, explains why many people have false preconceptions about cessationism. It doesn’t mean a belief that God has ceased working, which would be impossible. David also explains what continuationism means, and reads relevant Bible verses.
