Do you carry hidden guilt and shame from past sins? It can feel like those sins define you. This can also be spiritual warfare as the enemy accuses about our past sins.

Yet God’s Word reveals that God is merciful, and His mercy brings freedom and forgiveness through our belief in Jesus’ life, death and resurrection.

God’s Word says: “He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities” (Psalm 103:10).

God’s mercy means that when you’ve repented of your sins and believe in the Gospel, your sins are forgiven, and your identity is no longer defined by what you’ve done, but by what Christ has done for you.

In this week’s devotional from the Trust in the Lord series, we reflect on how God’s mercy frees you from shame and guilt. You don’t have to hide or try to earn your way back. His mercy is already extended to you, and it is new every morning.

If you’ve been weighed down by guilt, this message will remind you that in Christ there is forgiveness and freedom.
