YouTube Description
as posted by the channelIn many parts of our culture today, safety has become a central value.
But as my friend and colleague Jonathan Haidt argues in "The Anxious Generation," shielding ourselves, and especially our children, from every form of discomfort can have unintended consequences.
Just as the immune system becomes stronger through exposure, our social and emotional resilience develops through challenge. When we avoid every difficulty, we may also avoid the very experiences that help us grow stronger. As a result, a life optimized entirely for safety may feel comfortable in the moment, but it can leave us less prepared for the realities of life.
