58:21Now PlayingVinay Prasad MD MPH is a practicing hematologist-oncologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of California San Francisco. He studies cancer drugs, health policy, clinical trials and better decision making. Clinically, Dr. Prasad cares for patients with a wide range of benign hematologic and malignant conditions.
Dr. Prasad does a lot of writing/informational videos. On March 25, 2021, he published a video for MedPage, in which he breaks down new data from Denmark in The Lancet, which found that a first infection with SARS-CoV-2 offered 80.5% protection (95% CI 75.4%-84.5%) against a second infection, as seen from millions of PCR tests during the country's first and second surges.
He hosts Plenary Session podcast, which focuses on medicine, oncology and health policy.
Here is a tweet from last night: “Some days I remember that schools have been closed in many places for over a year... then I think that can't be right, as it makes absolutely no sense from a policy standpoint... then I am reminded it is correct, and no end in sight for some kids.”
He is the author of over 250 academic articles.
In his latest book, Malignant, he writes about the many sobering examples of how patients are too often failed by cancer policy and by how oncology is practiced.
