Teach with John, part 2. Once we know what the learner already knows about a topic, we are in a position to extend their knowledge in a way which is meaningful to them as individuals. We give new items of knowledge, individual facts and small topics, but we always relate these with other pieces of information that are already known to the learner. This is how we extend the individual learner's cognitive framework regarding a topic, giving the facts and the interconnections and interrelationships between the facts.
