Action on World Health (AWH). An independent review into the WHO.

Trump can seize back control of health policy from WHO

Mr Farage is the chairman of Action on World Health (AWH)

“once in a generation” chance to seize back control of health policy from the World Health Organisation

Mr Trump (May 2020)

“terminating” America’s relationship with WHO

“China has total control over the World Health Organisation.”

(Had previously paused funding to WHO)

"Because they have failed to make the requested and greatly needed reforms, we will be today terminating the relationship."

Process to end US membership, reversed by Mr. Biden.

Back to 2024

Mr Farage

Believes Mr Trump’s second presidency, impetus for curbing the powers of the WHO.

Critics fear

In future WHO will dictate policies to sovereign nations

(A new pandemic agreement, scheduled to be agreed in May 2025)

Fears that new treaty that would be legally binding on all 194 member states

(Fears WHO mandate lockdowns and vaccinations during pandemics)

Mr. Farrage, on WHO

“It was founded on noble principles,

but it has repeatedly let the world down,

whilst building a billion-dollar global health empire

that takes power away from countries and their citizens.”

Action on World Health

Has now commissioned a review of WHO’s functions

Led by Dr David Bell, (former WHO medical officer),

and nine other experts in medicine, law and ethics.

The review will examine the powers and structure of the WHO,

recommend reforms,

or possibly replace it with something else.

Dr Bell and his team would recommend reforms that “respect national sovereignty and stop interference in people’s lives” (NF).

Dr Bell

“I and my colleagues have been increasingly concerned with the departure of the WHO from its roots.

We care passionately about international health,

and with the right set of reforms,

can improve the health of all peoples,

restore national ownership,

protect bodily autonomy,

end conflicts of interest

and restore good governance.”

If the WHO could not be reformed,

it would have to be replaced by

“a body more fit for purpose and reflective of the will of the world’s peoples”.
