Impostor Phenomenon describes high achieving individuals who struggle to recognize their successes, and fear being exposed as frauds. ADHD can predispose people to view themselves as frauds or failures because they often achieve their successes through uncommon thought processes or pathways.
Society still tends to stigmatize those who think differently, which leads many to try to hide their differences. A number of approaches can help those with ADHD reduce negative self-images that may be part of their Impostor Phenomenon.
