There’s a strong association between ADHD and excessive internet gaming, particularly among males. Increasingly, experts have been willing to classify excessive internet gaming as an addiction disorder, given the extensive parallels in behaviors and brain chemistry and connectivity between excessive gaming and substance abuse disorders. Although most studies just demonstrate a correlation between gaming and ADHD, there is suggestive evidence that excessive gaming can contribute to developing full-blown ADHD, as well as evidence that ADHD predisposes individuals to gaming addictions.
