Mental health scientist Mohammad Rahimi recently published a paper encouraging researchers and clinicians to pay more attention to neuronal energy deficiency as an explanation for the often dramatic fluctuations in ADHD symptoms. While its useful and reasonable to consider that cellular energetics play an important role in brain functioning, coining the term "Energy Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder", despite several disclaimers, is most likely to produce confusion, and is unlikely to significantly diminish stigma.
