Most psychiatrists still call electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) one of the most effective treatments for depression—but what if the truth is far darker? In this video, I break down what ECT really does to the brain and the new research exposing its long-term consequences.
Recent studies show that ECT can cause lasting autobiographical memory loss and cognitive damage for many patients. Yet major psychiatric institutions continue to describe it as safe, often blaming the memory loss on depression itself.
I also explain how patients labeled with “treatment-resistant depression” often end up on ECT after years of harmful drug combinations, without anyone investigating medication side effects first.
