Most people don’t realize how thin the line is between psychiatric medications and street drugs. In this video, I talk about two prescriptions that have surprisingly developed street reputations: Wellbutrin, often called “poor man’s cocaine,” and Seroquel, sometimes referred to as “baby heroin.”

I explain why these drugs can have illicit appeal—how Wellbutrin can create a stimulant-like buzz and how Seroquel can be used for its sedating, numbing effects. I also discuss how people abuse these medications by snorting or injecting them, the real medical dangers that come with that and how this problem first took hold inside U.S. prisons.
