America is now the most depressed country in the developed world. In this video, I break down the major forces driving this crisis and what we can realistically do about it. I look at how the American Dream has faded for younger generations, why social isolation and heavy screen time have hit teens—especially girls—so hard, and how declining social trust and polarized media have reshaped our relationships. I also talk about the shift away from classical Western values and why that loss matters for our mental health.
After a decade studying antidepressant use, suicide trends, and the broader mental health system, it’s clear this isn’t a “chemical imbalance” problem. It’s cultural, economic, and relational. I’ll share what individuals and communities can start doing now to rebuild connection and purpose.
