Most people believe antidepressants help prevent depression from coming back. As a board-certified psychiatrist and former FDA medical officer, I believed that too, until I reviewed the long-term data.
In this video, I break down what the studies actually show, why “relapse prevention” trials are deeply flawed, and how withdrawal is often mistaken for relapse. We’ll look at population data, long-term observational studies, and even animal research that raise serious questions about whether these drugs may make outcomes worse over time.
