Diana Buttu tells Drop Site the surge in settler attacks is part of a coordinated state-backed effort to seize Palestinian land. “They start going after the farmlands… then set up these outposts backed by the Israeli army. And after they set up these outposts, they’re fortified, given electricity, and from that we see an Israeli settlement go up.”

She explains this is how Israel advances annexation: drive farmers away, turn their fields into military-protected outposts, then formal settlements — leaving Palestinians confined to the 18% of the West Bank (Area A) under limited Palestinian control.
