In Paramount’s $108Bbn bid for Warner Bros. Discovery:
- 11.8bn comes from the Ellison family
- $24bn from Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds (UAE, Saudi, and Qatar)
- $1bn from China’s Tencent
- And undisclosed amount from Jared Kushner’s private equity firm Affinity Partners
- $54 billion debt "fully committed" by Bank of America, Citi and Apollo.
Jared Kushner’s private-equity firm, Affinity Partners, is part of the investor group backing the bid, and as Senator Van Hollen points out, Paramount executives have reportedly told shareholders that Kushner’s presence could make regulatory approval easier under the Trump administration.
Warner Bros. Discovery had previously rejected earlier offers, but Paramount is now bypassing the board and appealing directly to investors. If approved, the deal would create one of the largest media conglomerates in the world, concentrating control over several major studios, streaming platforms, and U.S. cable news and networks under a single corporate umbrella.
