Each time, after Palestinian fire stopped, Israel failed to lift restrictions on aid, fuel, goods, and movement. As conditions worsened, Palestinian fire resumed, which Israel then used as the pretext to launch disproportionate military assaults, resetting the cycle without ever honoring its humanitarian commitments.
The same pattern appears to be unfolding during the current ceasefire. 73 days in, food, medicine, and shelter aid remains largely blocked, and the Rafah crossing is closed, all in flagrant violation of Trump’s ceasefire deal. Taken together, it shows that the systematic deprivation of Palestinians’ ability to live in Gaza has not been a byproduct of conflict, but a defining objective of Israel’s policy since at least 2007.
