• Both, Maduro and Flores pleaded not guilty to narco-terrorism and drug trafficking charges
• The defense will mount a major legal challenge to illegal Maduro’s capture, which violates international law
• U.S. forces seized a sitting head of state in a military raid – no extradition, no congressional authorization
• Flores appeared with visible bruises; her lawyers requested an X-ray, fearing a broken rib from the raid
• Maduro entered limping but upbeat, smiling and wishing the gallery a Happy New Year
• Both are now held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, a facility long investigated for unsafe conditions
• Next court date: March 17
