Iranians are exhausted — by sanctions, economic collapse, and by years of state narratives that blame foreign actors without delivering reforms, Narges Bajoghli, co-director of the Rethinking Iran Initiative and a professor at Johns Hopkins University, told Drop Site Live this morning. She said real U.S. and Israeli interference exists, but the repeated invocation of outside plots has steadily eroded state legitimacy, leaving Iran caught between genuine imperial pressure and an authoritarian response that can justify repression of civilians.
