YouTube Description
as posted by the channel🟢 NEW | In leaked audio, New Jersey Democrat Sue Altman, now running in the state’s 12th Congressional District, says she is revising her position on U.S. weapons transfers to Israel. In 2024, running in a different district, she won the endorsement of the AIPAC-aligned group Democratic Majority for Israel, declaring in September 2024, nearly a year into the genocide: “In Congress, I will be a firm supporter of Israel’s right to defend itself and an unapologetic voice for our shared democratic values. We must work tirelessly to ensure Israel has the resources necessary to keep its people safe.”
Last week, Altman struck a different tone. “A lot has happened since then,” she said. “It has been a horrific tragedy… I don’t want our taxpayer money being used to kill innocent children and women. There’s no culpability if you’re three years old and you’re being starved.” She added that she does not want U.S. funds “sent in a way that has no oversight” and said she is “grappling” with what that means, promising an updated position soon.
Altman now faces Dr. Adam Hamawy, a physician who served multiple medical missions inside Gaza and opposes all military aid to Israel. AIPAC previously targeted former Rep. Tom Malinowski in another New Jersey race after he called for conditioning aid. Now, the pro-Israel group faces a choice: stay out and risk boosting Hamawy, or spend money to back Altman, an ally who now sees “unconditional” support for Israel as no longer tenable in a Democratic primary.
