Asked by Drop Site’s Julian Andreone whether the campaign amounts to ethnic cleansing, Reed sidestepped the question, pointing instead to upcoming talks between Israel and Lebanon.
Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health reports 2,089 killed and 6,762 wounded since the start of Israel’s assault, including 34 killed and 174 injured on April 13 alone. Nearly 40,000 housing units have been destroyed or heavily damaged in Lebanon since March 2, according to the National Council for Scientific Research in Lebanon, a government-affiliated body.
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu visited Israeli forces inside occupied southern Lebanon Sunday, vowing to maintain what he called a “strong and deep security belt.”
The Israeli military said it struck around 150 different sites in southern Lebanon over the past 24 hours.
