Excellence is not legalism or perfectionism but a consistent effort to do and be our best with what we have and know. The Greek definition of excellence is 'to carry through,' illustrating that excellence serves as a bridge between God and people (Philippians 1:10).
With anecdotes from his ministerial experiences, Duane illustrates that continual self-assessment and the willingness to learn from mistakes are vital for growth. 2 Corinthians 3:18 explains how we are transformed 'from glory to glory' by the Spirit of the Lord through consistent self-improvement and dedication to God.
