In the fifth episode of "God Killed My Old Man," Duane Sheriff teaches the importance of living a holy life as a Christian. Understanding our new nature in Christ is key to overcoming sin and living righteously.
Romans 6:14 states, "For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace." Being free from the law and having our old sinful nature crucified with Christ doesn't mean we should continue in sin. Instead, it empowers us to live righteously.
Five reasons why Christians should pursue holiness:
1. Because God is holy (1 Peter 1:16).
2. Because it reflects our new nature in Christ (Ephesians 4:22-24).
3. Because we are saved for good works (Ephesians 2:8-10).
4. Because holiness is a witness to others.
5. Because sin gives the devil a foothold and damages our relationship with God.
Living a holy life is not about earning God's love or salvation but reflecting our true identity in Christ. 2 Corinthians 3:18 explains that we are transformed by beholding God's glory and renewing our minds to our new identity in Christ. Embrace the new nature in Christ and live out the holiness that God has already placed within us. #god #jesus #love #holy
