In the ninth episode of "God Killed My Old Man," Duane Sheriff teaches about our relationship with Christ. The apostle Paul illustrates our release from the old covenant and union with Christ by using the analogy of marriage to explain our spiritual transformation in Romans 7:1-6.
Before salvation, we were "married" to our old sinful nature, bound by the law. However, God put our old self to death, freeing us to be "married" to Christ. In 2 Corinthians 11:2, Paul says, "I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ." We can't be married to both our old sinful nature and Christ simultaneously - it's spiritual adultery. God killed our old man so we can be united with Jesus. #god #jesus #marriage
