Identity begins with creation—not culture. In episode seven of "God's Image in Man," Duane Sheriff explores the foundational truth that humanity was fearfully and wonderfully made in God's image—created male and female as part of God's divine order and design. From the moment of conception, God forms each person in the mother's womb with intention and purpose, a truth powerfully declared in Psalm 139. Every cell in the human body carries a God-given genetic code that reveals our gender—an objective reality that cannot be altered by cultural pressure or human deception.
Though sin corrupted and distorted God's image in Adam, Jesus fully restored that image within the born-again spirit. The believer's spirit is now one with the Lord, carrying the fullness of God's image within. When we understand that male and female reflect God's image, we recognize that assaults on gender are ultimately assaults on the Creator Himself.
