Jesus did more than just die for our sins. He became our representative. When He died, we died with Him. When He was buried, our old life was buried too. And when He rose from the dead, we were raised with Him into a new identity and made right with God. The resurrection proves that we are justified and is the foundation of our victory as believers. Because Christ lives, we are no longer condemned.
