Sarah Boone's full statement at sentencing
The Sarah Boone case captured the nation’s attention as a shocking tale of domestic turmoil turned deadly. On February 24, 2020, authorities were called to Boone's home in Winter Park, Florida, where her boyfriend, Jorge Torres Jr., was found unresponsive. The chilling twist? He had suffocated inside a suitcase.
Boone initially claimed the couple had been playing a "hide-and-seek" style game after a night of drinking. She alleged Torres willingly climbed into the suitcase and was left there "accidentally." However, investigators uncovered damning evidence: Boone's cellphone videos showed Torres screaming for help from inside the suitcase, saying he couldn't breathe, while Boone taunted him, laughing and responding, "This is how I feel when you cheat on me."
The case quickly gained notoriety as Boone's demeanor and statements came under scrutiny. Critics questioned her story, and forensic evidence contradicted her claims. Boone was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Prosecutors argued her actions were intentional and pointed to a toxic relationship marred by prior allegations of violence and manipulation.
With a trial that promises to reveal shocking new details, the Sarah Boone case highlights the dark side of domestic disputes and the devastating consequences when control and anger take a lethal turn.
